FogBugz Settings

To be able to use CaseDetective for FogBugz, you must have a user name and optionally a password that normally enables you to login to your FogBugz website.

The Connection tab of the Preferences window allows you to input your FogBugz User Name, Password and URL.

User Name

CaseDetective needs to know your FogBugz User Name so that it can correctly show you your FogBugz Filters and the cases that you are allowed to see. You can not use CaseDetective unless you already have a working FogBugz User Name.

Although in FogBugz you can login with your email address, CaseDetective currently requires your actual User Name as this is unique in FogBugz (whereas your email address may be used more than once).

Please be careful to enter your FogBugz User Name as it is displayed in FogBugz, case matters ("First Last" is not the same as "first last".)

Password (Optional)

If you have a password set in FogBugz you must use it in CaseDetective as well.

Note regarding FogBugz 4.0.23 or earlier: Currently it is not possible for CaseDetective to tell whether the FogBugz website has been set to require passwords or not if using FogBugz versions 4.0.23 or earlier, so if a password has ever been set for your User Name you must enter it here. If you have never had a password set you will not need to enter it in CaseDetective. For FogBugz version 4.0.27 or later (SP1) CaseDetective should be able to determine whether your FogBugz server requires passwords or not.

CaseDetective does not currently support LDAP logins as introduced in FogBugz 4.0.27.

URL

The URL (website address) you specify in the URL edit box should be the base URL you use to connect to your FogBugz website. It should end in default.asp or default.php depending on the type of FogBugz installation you have.

This URL is used so that you can double-click on a case in the main Case List to go directly to that case in your default web browser, or to edit your FogBugz filter if you double click one from the Filter list.

An example URL might be "http://server.example.com/fogbugz/default.asp"

You may enter a secure address if you like too, e.g. starting with "https://".
